Daily Reflection: Genesis 12: 1-3 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Generally, I do not like to be pushed. I don’t. I don’t like to be pushed in a line. I don’t like to be pushed/backed into a corner. I think that it is the out of control feeling that disturbs me in the pushing process. And, to be honest, I don’t like it. I don’t like it when people push me and yes, I can admit I don’t like it when God pushes me either.
Yesterday God pushed me. At first I was upset about it. I didn’t want to leave my comfort zone. Have you ever had the experience of being pushed? The uncertainty, the unknown, the fear that tries to creep in, just in that one moment of time, that one blinking of an eye when you actually believe that you may fall.
The reason that most of us do not like being pushed is that we are afraid that we might fall. The funny thing is most the time that we are pushed, we do not fall. Yes we waiver, get jostled around, and we stumble, but usually we are able to right ourselves and keep on walking. We’ve got to keep on walking.
The pushing makes us move. I can understand now, why the eagles make the next uncomfortable for their babies. They want them to soar. And so does God. He wants us to soar to higher heights and deeper depths in Him. We can get comfortable in jobs, in relationships, in the daily grind of our lives that we pack our wings away. We pack our hopes and dreams away. We pack away all the promises that God has spoken over us because we have gotten comfortable with where we are at. God doesn’t make us comfortable. He makes us move.
Prayer of Thanks: Lord thank you for the moving and shaking that is going on in my life. Help me to be open to the new, fresh and exciting opportunities that you will present to me. Help me not to become bitter, angry and frustrated in my process. Thank you for what you are going to do in my life. In Jesus name, amen.
Thought for the day: Getting out of our comfort zones requires us to move.
